Fireblocks to add full support for Cardano Native Tokens, opening Cardano’s token economy to institutions
Zug, Switzerland, 24 September, 2026 – The Cardano Foundation, the independent, Swiss-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing Cardano as a public digital infrastructure, together with Fireblocks, the enterprise platform securing $16 trillion in digital asset transactions, today announced that Cardano Native Tokens (CNTs) will be fully supported on the Fireblocks platform. The thousands of banks, exchanges, payment firms and fintechs that use Fireblocks will be able to custody, send and receive CNTs using the same security and policy controls they apply to every other digital asset.
CNTs are issued directly on the Cardano blockchain alongside its native currency, ADA, which Fireblocks has supported since 2021. Until now, use of CNTs required additional manual steps. With native support, CNTs become standard assets on the platform, including tokens that use both the Cardano Token Registry (CIP-26) and Cardano's onchain metadata standard (CIP-68). Support is expected to be available by March 2027.
Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, said: “Institutions rarely adopt a new asset on its own. Adoption happens through trusted infrastructure. Bringing Cardano Native Tokens onto Fireblocks puts the assets issued on Cardano in front of the exchanges, payment firms and fintechs that build on that infrastructure every day. For anyone issuing stablecoins or tokenised assets on Cardano, it removes one of the biggest practical barriers to institutional demand.”
Stephen Richardson, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Banking at Fireblocks, said: “Banks assess two things before they determine where they will issue new assets: the network the asset lives on and the infrastructure they'll engage with managing that asset. Cardano has invested a decade building credibility on the first, through peer-reviewed research, formal verification and a governance model institutions can scrutinise. Fireblocks gives them the second, with the security and policy controls that more than 100 banks rely on to manage their assets on the blockchain."
Fireblocks and the Cardano Foundation also plan to scope further DeFi and ecosystem integrations in 2027.
