A permissioned network paired with a public blockchain gives regulated supply chains independent verification, with more than 500,000 records already in production

Zug, Switzerland and São Paulo, Brazil, 31 August 2026 - The Cardano Foundation and Blockforce today announced that Cardano is live as the public proof layer in Blockforce's traceability platform. The system is running with Brazil's largest fashion groups and has anchored more than 500,000 supply chain records.

The architecture separates confidentiality from verifiability. Records for each supply chain step sit on a permissioned network, visible only to the parties involved. Only the cryptographic proof of those records is anchored to Cardano, where any auditor, regulator or customer can confirm a record is genuine without seeing the underlying data.

Cost is what held this model back. Anchoring hundreds of thousands of records publicly was never viable at enterprise scale. Joint engineering work cut the cost per record by 92%, moving public verification out of proof-of-concept and into production at real volume.

"The milestone for me is seeing blockchain fit naturally into enterprise infrastructure, delivering the verifiability, traceability and scale that companies need. Supply chain records are written today and questioned years later, and a public network is what keeps that proof intact for the full product life cycle," says Guilherme Pereira, Ecosystem Growth Specialist LATAM at the Cardano Foundation. "This collaboration points to where it is going: Cardano as a verification layer for industries where provenance, compliance and auditability have to work at scale."

"Public verification has always cost commercial exposure, which is why proof of compliance was treated as a bottleneck. With the architecture we built alongside the Cardano Foundation, that trade-off is gone. Every record is independently verifiable, and not one piece of strategic data leaves the private network. For an exporter, compliance stops being a cost and becomes a credential for entering the European market," says André Salem, CEO of Blockforce.

Among the companies already running on the model is Azzas 2154, Latin America's largest fashion group, which uses the platform to trace its leather chain by cross-checking fiscal documents, supplier records and official public databases into a single history for each product.

"Our goal is to trace 100% of the leather across our brands by 2030. To get there we built a solution with Blockforce that works with the reality of the chain and uses the data suppliers already produce. Rather than asking them to adopt new systems, we start from that information and turn it into a single auditable record," says Suelen Joner, head of sustainability at Azzas 2154.

Signed contracts cover 6.5 million certified records through 2030, with expansion planned into fashion, automotive, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The full architecture, including uVerify and the certificate batching parameters, is set out in the case study published by the Cardano Foundation.
