Cardano Foundation Releases 2024 Activity Report
Showcasing activities and innovations to advance Cardano as a public digital infrastructure
Zug, Switzerland - 30 January 2025 - The Cardano Foundation—the independent, Swiss-based not-for-profit organization tasked with advancing the Cardano blockchain as a public digital infrastructure across a wide range of industries, users, and use cases—today announces the release of its third annual Activity Report. This detailed report highlights the Foundation’s work, initiatives and technical innovations in 2024, including in the areas of operational resilience, education, and adoption.

The 2024 Activity Report showcases the breadth of the Cardano Foundation’s work last year, including:
Fostering adoption through novel initiatives, such as:
- •Working with SAT on a Decentralized Automated Ballistic Identification System (D-ABIS), with Tokenance and YurekAI on an innovative real estate token, and a transparent inventory tracking solution using native assets and metadata proof-of-concept project for NASA.
- •Launching a new iteration of the Aiken smart contract language, upgrading the Kupo chain-indexer, and facilitating increased interoperability by introducing Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) capabilities to the Cardano blockchain.
Increasing operational resilience through initiatives, such as:
- •Contributing to a wide range of projects and initiatives to support governance and decentralization, including joining Intersect, engaging as an interim constitutional committee member, organizing and participating in workshops and events, and transparently outlining our ethos and principles.
- •Collaborating to launch PRAGMA, a member-based, not-for-profit association for open source blockchain projects, and the subsequent PRAGMA launch of Amaru, which aims to develop an alternative block-producing node client for Cardano that is written in Rust.
- •Releasing MiCA-compliant sustainability indicators for the Cardano network as well as a MiCA-compliant whitepaper template.
Enabling real-world education to a variety of stakeholders, such as:
- •Establishing the Cardano Blockchain Certified Associate (CBCA) program and expanding our learning materials and partnerships, including with Petrobras, SEE Institute, and Women in Tech.
- •Contributing once more to the University of Zurich summer school.
- •Signing an agreement with Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, Argentina, to offer Haskell training to its engineers.
The 2024 Activity Report also highlights other essential activities and projects the Cardano Foundation contributed to in 2024, including working with the community ahead of the era of self-governance, engaging with regulators and governmental organizations, and expanding the reach of the Cardano blockchain to countries and entities all over the world. The report also outlines the most important challenges and opportunities the Foundation faced, including encouraging new development on the blockchain, encouraging and facilitating debate ahead of the new governance phase, and ensuring the broad representation of all stakeholders.
